PB&J mess makes for long, sticky cleanup on I-664 ramp
CHESAPEAKE - A late- morning peanut-butter-and-jelly break closed down an interstate exit ramp for a really long clean up. Police said the driver of a tractor-trailer pulling a full load of the snack spreads lost control about 11:50 a.m. while leaving Interstate 664 for eastbound U.S. 58.
The driver was not injured, but many of the jellies broke and one pallet of plastic peanut butter jars flew out of the trailer when it ruptured, said Sgt. C.J. Plaza of the Virginia State Police.
The worst of the mess was contained inside the trailer, Plaza said. About 10 workers emptied the load so it could be hauled to the dump. Even the unbroken containers had to be discarded for liability reasons, Plaza said.
Removing all that PB &J took much of the afternoon; the ramp was closed until about 5 p.m.
