This is a story of two best friends and their journey through time and the lands, and shrooms, to find their destiny. This is a heart-warming tale full of the true value of friendship, and the trials and tribulations of that friendship.
...

Throw in a few—o.k., like, a hundred ‘fucks’, a Sasquatch, and the Rock Hall of Fame, and we have a winner! This movie was exactly what I have come to expect from the dynamic duo Tenacious D.

There is a lovely cameo of Ben Stiller as the ‘record store guy’ who inspires the band to find the Pick Of Destiny (POD). Along their journey, the friends meet Tim Robbins as a bum, who shines in his portrayal of your neighborhood psychopathic homeless guy. The pair split up after an argument over boobs vs. rock and roll. Kevin chose boobs (BOO KG!), while Jack followed his secret heart to rock and roll.

Will the pair ever become friends again? Will they find their destiny in the uber-cool guitar pick and melt faces with their mind numbing rock? Or will Satan rise from hell and make Kevin his bitch?

I won’t tell you the ending here, but I will tell you that never has there been two truer friends.

It was funny, low budget (although we all know they could have made a high-budget film). The fact that Jack Black and Kyle Gass have stayed true to their roots and their friendship—and to ROCK (!) throughout their fame, makes me teary-eyed. As with every movie, I like to look for the hidden message, and this movie has one.

It’s the rock and roll, man, and the rock and roll.

And Satan.

And smoking from a pipe made from Satan’s horn.
